Dear friends and colleagues, dear members of AMSE,
AMSE is pleased to announce that it is expanding its member schools activities. The Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) and the Association of Medical Schools in Europe have signed a cooperation agreement to expand and improve healthcare leadership in Europe, starting in 2026.
The Healthcare Leadership Academy is a non-profit organisation founded by frontline healthcare professionals, for frontline healthcare professionals and students. The HLA exists to empower the next generation of clinical and healthcare leaders by fostering frontline innovation, leadership capability, and practical solutions to real-world healthcare challenges. For nearly a decade, HLA has delivered leadership training to UK-based and international clinicians, responding to growing demand for structured leadership education among early career professionals.
Call for applications
to the new AMSE Scholars Track programme
To start off this strategic partnership, AMSE implements the AMSE Scholars Track in cooperation with the HLA. For the 2026/27 cohort, AMSE is offering and sponsoring two scholarships for individuals from AMSE member schools, to participate in the HLA programme. AMSE invites its member schools to identify suitable candidates and share this information with them so they can apply for the AMSE Scholars Track scholarship.
| The HLA Scholars Programme is a competitive leadership scholarship designed to identify, support, and develop individuals with demonstrated leadership potential. Supported by Medics.Academy, which provides the academic framework, the programme responds to the increasing demand from early-stage clinicians, educators, and students for leadership education in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. |
The programme is mapped to the UK National Health Service (NHS) Leadership Framework and to the World Health Organization Global Health Learning Strategy. It is delivered through HLA’s 6 pillars of leadership using a spiral learning approach, enabling scholars to revisit and deepen leadership concepts over time while applying them directly to practice.
