Dear friends and colleagues, dear members of AMSE,please mark your calendars for the AMSE Annual Conference in 2026 on:
Academic Medicine Under Pressure
in Times of UncertaintyEducation – Research – Patient Care
10 – 12 September 2026
in the beautiful city of Vilnius, Lithuania, hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Vilnius.

About the Conference
The AMSE Conference 2026 will take place in Vilnius and will bring together participants from across Europe and beyond to reflect on the challenges currently shaping academic medicine. Under the theme “Academic Medicine Under Pressure in Times of Uncertainty: Education – Research – Patient Care”, the conference will address the growing pressures faced by medical schools, universities, teaching hospitals, and healthcare systems in a rapidly changing environment.
Academic medicine today is influenced by profound societal change, workforce shortages, technological transformation, financial constraints, and increasing expectations from patients, students, professionals, and communities. At the same time, these challenges highlight the enduring importance of the core missions of academic medicine: educating future healthcare professionals, advancing knowledge through research, and contributing to high-quality patient and community care.
Through keynote lectures, panel discussions, workshops, short communications, poster presentations, and interactive sessions, participants will explore how institutions can respond to uncertainty while strengthening their academic responsibilities. The conference will provide a forum for sharing experiences, discussing innovative approaches, and identifying strategies that connect education, research, and clinical practice.
