The Backbone of Academic Medicine: Strengthening the Ties Between Universities and Teaching Hospitals in Europe

16 – 18 October 2025

will take place in the beautiful city of Olomouc, Czech Republic, hosted by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Palacký University Olomouc.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The conference will address the evolving landscape of academic medicine in Europe and explore innovative partnership models, best practices, and emerging challenges that European universities and teaching hospitals encounter at present time. Through keynote sessions, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will gain insights into effective strategies for fostering synergy between academia and clinical practice.

The conference will feature keynote speeches, lectures, panel discussions, workshops, short communications and poster presentations. The main topics will be cover:

·      Strengthening university–hospital partnerships

·      Integrating emerging technologies in the curriculum, active learning

·      The active role of students in medical education and research

Preconference sessions will cover:

·        Admission policies for international students

·        Shortage in the healthcare workforce

·        Preventing burnout in students and faculty members

Participants will have the opportunity to network with experts and peers from across Europe and gain insights into the latest developments in medical education, research and patient care concerning medical schools in Europe and beyond.

ABOUT THE HOST

Palacký University in Olomouc is an internationally renowned and scientifically and academically highly productive university in Central Europe. Founded on 22 December 1573, it is the second oldest university in the Czech Republic and the oldest one in Moravia.
