AMSE Newsletter – 2022 – No. 7

Dear friends and colleagues, dear members of AMSE,

in cooperation with AMSE, the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) is launching an International Dean Leadership Development Program intended for Deans of Medicine or Deans of Health Sciences Faculties.  

The AFMC International Dean Leadership Development Program will engage global dean leaders in medicine, academic medicine and academic health professions while building skills and competencies in leadership.  The program participants will be able to bring the fundamental leadership and management skills of building trust, effective team management, resource management and fostering a culture of innovation back to their own academic environment. 

The pilot program will begin September 2022 with synchronous virtual interactive sessions and will conclude with a final meeting at the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM) on April 12-18th 2023, in Québec City, Québec, Canada.

The Value for participants are:

·    Nine 1.5 – 2 hrs virtual sessions (35.5 hrs in total)

·    International speakers and facilitators – leaders in their field

·    Ability to apply the knowledge acquired in this program to their leadership in an academic and/or clinical environment

·    Access to a mentor

·    AFMC Certificate of Completion

·    Full conference registration (onsite) to the ICAM Meeting in April 2023
