AMSE Newsletter – 2021 – No. 7
Dear friends and colleagues, dear members of AMSE,
AMSE is joining the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) and other leading international medical associations in planning the inaugural International Congress of Academic Medicine (ICAM), that will take place in April 2023 in Québec City, Québec, Canada.
A central activity along the ICAM 2023 planning is the creation of an International Dean Leadership Development Program. We are seeking the advice of our Dean members as to the best content and format that would support their professional development in the area of leadership as a Dean of Medicine working in a global environment.
Please take part in the needs assessment for this program by Monday, November 22nd, 2021. Links to the survey and additional information can be found below.
Best wishes from Berlin,
Harm Peters

Dear Colleagues of the ICAM International Program Committee,
The Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC) is creating an International Dean Leadership Development Program in conjunction with the International Congress of Academic Medicine (ICAM). We are seeking the advice of your Dean members as to the best content and format that would support their professional development in the area of leadership as a Dean of Medicine working in a global environment. The plan is to design a longitudinal, virtual program that will start in September 2022 and will culminate with a face-to-face meeting at the April 2023 inaugural International Congress of Academic Medicine (ICAM), Québec City, Québec, Canada.
To that end, we invite you to distribute this survey to Dean members of your organization. Data will be confidential and only used in aggregate form. Please contact Angela Kojok, akojok@afmc.ca, with any questions or concerns.
We thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Anna Karwowska, MDCM, FRCPC, Vice President, Education, AFMC
